Diamonds Netball Academy played two strong matches today in the Berkshire Recreational League against Laurel Park.
In the first game, 12s team took on Laurel Park’s Under 13s. After a slow start and trailing 8–2 at the end of the first quarter, the girls fought back well and matched their opponents for the rest of the game. The final score was a close 31–37 loss, but the team showed real determination.
Coach’s Player was Pia, who had an excellent game. She was also voted Players’ Player, showing how much her teammates appreciated her effort. Opposition Players of the Match, chosen by Laurel Park, were Lila and Tilly — a great achievement.
In the Under 11s game, the Diamonds faced another tough challenge. Laurel Park had a mix of Under 11s and 12s, while our team included both Under 11s and 10s. It was a close game, with the Diamonds losing by just a few goals.
Florence Bedwell and Florence Short were named Girls of the Game by Laurel Park. Coach’s Player was Poppy, who worked hard all game and played multiple positions, including shooter, goal attack, and centre. Players’ Player went to Eleanor, who had a strong game and helped lift the team.
Special mention to Abi, Valentina, and Jessie from Year 5, who stepped up and played their hearts out.
