Diamonds Netball Academy’s Under 12s turned in a commanding performance on Sunday, defeating Falcons 13B by a decisive 35–9 margin. The result marks a significant step forward from their Round 1 clash earlier in the season, which the Diamonds also won, 18–10.
From the first centre pass, the intent was clear. A slick passage of play from centre to goal shooter saw Diamonds on the board within seconds, and a 3–0 lead established inside the opening minute. From there, the girls never looked back, maintaining control throughout the game and preventing Falcons from ever gaining a foothold.
It was a day of debutants, with Ruby making her first appearance for the team. She showed promise in the shooting circle and will no doubt continue to refine her accuracy with more game time. Izzy P delivered a strong shooting display, supported by sharp midcourt work from Tilly, Lila, and Pia, whose court coverage and quick connections helped drive the team forward.
Defensively, the Diamonds were relentless. Izzy Johnson had a standout performance at wing defence, while fellow debutant Aurelia and the ever-reliable Annabelle combined with Megan to form a solid defensive unit that stifled Falcons’ attacking chances throughout the match.
Coach’s Player of the Match was awarded to Pia, whose tireless energy, attacking intent, and improved shooting made a clear impact. Player’s Player was shared between Ruby and Aurelia — a well-earned nod from their teammates on an impressive first outing. A special mention also went to Izzy Parker, who played a strong quarter at goal attack, showing her versatility beyond her usual goal shooter role.
All in all, a brilliant display from the U12s — full of confidence, energy, and teamwork
