Match Report: Diamonds 12 – Charters Crystal 8

Top of the Table Blockbuster – Charters U12 League

In what was billed as a top-of-the-table clash between the two undefeated teams in the Charters Under 12 competition, Diamonds and Charters Crystal delivered an absolute thriller. The game lived up to the hype — a fast, physical, and high-quality encounter between two well-drilled sides.

Diamonds, fielding no fewer than four Year Six players, showed incredible composure and teamwork against the seasoned Crystal side. The opening quarter was evenly matched, locked at 3–3, before Diamonds momentarily slipped behind 5–3 at halftime. The team rallied brilliantly in the third quarter to edge ahead 8–6, and from there, produced a dominant final term to close out the match 12–8, maintaining their unbeaten record.

It was a full-squad effort, but a few standout performances deserve special mention. Eleanor was immense in defence, earning both Girl of the Game and Coach’s Player for her brilliant intercepts and relentless pressure. Verinda also picked up Girl of the Game (as voted by the opposition) for her defensive consistency and smart play.

The Player’s Player award went to Flo, who was outstanding — driving through court, taking crucial centre passes, and controlling the final quarter from centre with real authority.

Special mentions also go to Manuela, who played her best game yet at wing defence, finding great timing and confidence; Amelia, who was rock-solid at goalkeeper, shutting down the opposition shooter through the middle stages; and Lizzie Wells, whose combination play at wing attack was a highlight, especially in the final quarter linking beautifully with Jessie (GA) and Missy (GS). Missy’s long-range shooting sealed the result, landing a pair of crucial goals late in the match.

Anya also impressed with her trademark composure and precision feeding when on court — a key part of Diamonds’ attacking structure.

It was especially pleasing to see the final attacking line of WA–GA–GS made up of Year 6, Year 6, and Year 5 players, showing the strength and depth coming through the Diamonds pathway.

A superb, hard-fought victory and a performance full of belief, teamwork, and maturity. Plenty to build on in training — but for now, Diamonds remain undefeated and dominant at the top of the Charters League.

Well done, girls – another statement win! ?
