The Diamonds Year 5/6 squad delivered a spirited performance last night as they stepped up to compete in the Under 11s league at Charters. Despite a narrow 15–11 defeat, the match was a great opportunity for the girls to test themselves against older and more experienced opposition — and they rose to the challenge with energy and determination.

The game was well contested throughout, with Diamonds getting off to a fantastic start in the first quarter, showing real composure and structure. Unfortunately, a tough second quarter saw the game slip away, but the squad showed resilience and kept battling until the final whistle.

It was especially pleasing to see improvements across the board as the match progressed, with several players growing into the game and adapting well under pressure. The attitude, teamwork, and effort on court were a credit to the group.

Player’s Player went to Vrinda, who impressed in her debut match for the Diamonds. She produced a standout defensive performance, making multiple key intercepts and shutting down the opposition’s attacking moves with confidence — a brilliant first outing.

Coach’s Player was awarded to Lizzie Wells, who put in a consistent and effective shift. Lizzie worked hard to get free throughout the court, linked play nicely, and converted her opportunities under the post with accuracy and poise.

A strong learning experience, and a proud moment for the team as they continue to build their skills and confidence. Well done, Diamonds!
